As I was reading Donncha’s blog recently, I noticed that one of his posts was on toothache. It brought me back to my situation last Sunday when I had a pretty severe toothache.
Severe is maybe too nice. Lets just say, I was thinking about putting a shotgun to my mouth and getting rid of the problem that way. Of course there is no Emergency dentist in Cork on a Sunday evening!
I don’t like doctors and dentists but the pain was so bad I was actually getting physically sick from it, so I decided to go to SouthDoc. Two hours later I get a shot in the ass and despite telling the doctors otherwise, tablets.
I can’t swallow tablets, ever! Its not because I am a wuss or anything, its quite a common issue apparently that affects approx 10% of patients. In my case, my mum used to hide Seven Seas cod liver oil capsules in my Corn Flakes, very f’ing nice!
I have tried every method known to man on this one, but still cannot get it down. The only way to swallow a table is to either crush it up and pop it into a yogurt or mix it with jam and eat very quickly.
It never ceases to amaze me that despite most tablets being available in a soluble form, most chemists don’t carry them. Why can’t I just have them all as strawberry flavored gum??? Some please sort it out!
