Well, finally after ages of messing around, I feel comfortable enough with my theme to switch over to Wordpress instead of Drupal. Note, its not complete, but it is getting there. I hope you don’t find too many things broken.
Before I get hit with a lot of mail asking why I ditched Drupal, let me say it was not for any other reason than time. Something which I have very little of these days as projects come in by the truck load.
Drupal for example is a beaut to develop a theme for. Really easy and logical. Wordpress on the other hand, while easy enough, is a tad more involved but still doable. Drupal however I find needs a lot of time to read and understand its workings. Maybe I am just slow, or maybe I did not have the time, either way, WP seems right for what I want at present.
The other reason I am moving to Wordpress is because I wish to develop a plugin for it sometime later this year. Its gonna be another caching plugin, probably using if possible Amazon S3 for the storage.
At the moment however, my head is stuck deep into two Symfony projects, one for Adam and one for myself, which means maintaining blogs and Drupal, meant that the logical time saving choice was to go to Wordpress. Now I just hope I get to post some stuff a bit more than I have been.
