Storing critical data in MyISAM (which as far as I understand is non-transaction) should be ultra-fast by default.

I would like to see you do all of this in a real transaction table, with proper commits/rollbacks along the way (or maybe one giant transaction) and see how MySQL handles that.

At least for buying apple stuff you can wait for a convenient trip to North America and pick up, for example, a Mac Book Pro for a reasonable price. Otherwise you should try an exploit someone who can get a decent educational discount.

Make note, before the scripts keyword you have to have 2 dashes,

ie: --scripts

Otherwise you'll get the error:

You can not use --generate or --single with --install

Stumped me for a while!

Hi, thank you so much for this guide. I am a relatively new to linux but am very impressed with Ubuntu. We use GroupWise in our enterprise and this guide has been a huge help! One additional step was required to get this to work on my Ubuntu 8.04 distrib: sudo apt-get install libstdc++5 (thanks to http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fictnew.ukzn.ac.za%2Findex2.php%3Foption%3Dcom_content%26do_pdf%3D1%26id%3D44&ei=ZwZySO_NO4y40gXNmLjpAQ&usg=AFQjCNGdkwkjmHQ5CQslHIYlv2y_KThOAw&sig2=XXnKEyypnJg4Ya-0tHFO1g)

Um, he still has to face the scrutiny AJ! The Mahon Tribunal isn't going to just pack up their tents now. Sure if that was a possibility every politician in the country would have resigned by tomorrow! :)
